After finishing his schooling in Dhanbad, he moved to Meerut to complete his graduation. After college, he started working at a call centre in Delhi, where he worked for about one and a half years. However, due to the 2008 recession, he had to leave his job.
In 2009, with the dream of becoming a hero in the Hindi film industry, he moved to Mumbai. There, he met filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and shared his writing sample for the film Gangs of Wasseypur.
