Career
Alexis Ayala began his acting career at the age of 22 with the film En peligro de muerte (“In Danger of Death”). After finishing his studies at Televisa’s Centro de Educación Artística (CEA) three years later, he got a small role in Mi pequeña Soledad with Verónica Castro. In 1992, he appeared in Baila conmigo, where he met actress Karla Álvarez, who later became his wife. The following year, he landed a bigger role in the telenovela Los parientes pobres (“Poor Relatives”), starring singer Lucero. He had also worked with her before in Cuando llega el amor (“When Love Arrives”). In 1999, Ayala played his first leading role in Tres mujeres. Around the same time, along with his friend and fellow actor Sergio Mayer, he co-produced the stage show Sólo para Mujeres, in which they and other celebrities performed strip-tease acts. The show became very popular and, despite opposition from Catholic groups, went on tour across Mexico, later reaching other Latin American countries and the United States. Although Ayala eventually left the rotating cast, by 2005 he was still working as a producer of the show.
