Lola Tung was born on October 28, 2002 (23 Years old, as of 2025) in New York City, U.S. During her middle school years, Lola Tung took part in stage productions such as Little Shop of Horrors and The Wizard of Oz. She later attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where she majored in drama and graduated in 2020. While in high school, she also performed in a production of Rent with her extracurricular theater group. In the fall of 2020, Tung enrolled at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, where she appeared in several school plays. After completing her first year, she decided to take a break from college to film the Amazon Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Career

In her senior year of high school, Lola Tung performed in LaGuardia’s virtual senior acting showcase, where her current manager first noticed her. In February 2021, while studying at Carnegie Mellon University, she auditioned for the lead role of Isabel “Belly” Conklin in Amazon Prime Video’s series The Summer I Turned Pretty, adapted from Jenny Han’s bestselling trilogy. Shortly after securing the role in September 2021, she signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Even before the first season premiered, Amazon Prime renewed the show for a second season, which was filmed in the summer of 2022. In August 2023, a third season was also announced, though production was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Beyond television, Tung expanded her stage career. In November 2023, she collaborated with Cameron Crowe and Tom Kitt, playing Penny Lane in the developmental residency of Almost Famous at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. She later made her Broadway debut in February 2024 as Eurydice in the Tony Award-winning musical Hadestown, performing opposite Jordan Fisher for a limited run. That same year, she earned her first award nomination at the 2024 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards.

In March 2025, Tung was cast in Forbidden Fruits, a witch horror film directed by Meredith Alloway and adapted from Lily Houghton’s play. She plays a member of a secret witch cult whose unity begins to crumble after a new recruit arrives. The film, acquired by IFC Films and Shudder, is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2026.
