Onam is deeply rooted in Kerala’s cultural and mythological heritage. It commemorates the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali, a beloved ruler who was known for his generosity and just rule. According to Hindu mythology, King Mahabali was sent to the netherworld (Patala) by Lord Vamana, an avatar of Lord Vishnu.
